Check out this review of ROCK BOTTOM from the National Examiner:
Some stories are impossible to shake. They follow after you, dogging your footsteps and tap-dancing their way through your mind. Rock Bottom, by Erin Brockovich with CJ Lyons, is an intense, emotional thriller of a debut. From the moment the first page is read, the story catapults the reader into a world of greed, subterfuge and passion.
A.J. Palladino is a feisty environmental activist, who after a string of unfortunate circumstances returns to her hometown, looking for a new beginning in the place that nearly cost her everything. She comes home, expecting to start work at her new job and repair damaged relationships, but is met with opposition and murder.
A.J. soon discovers her boss’ untimely death is more than a tragic ending. She joins forces with Elizabeth, his daughter who decides to finish the fight her father began, and AJ begins to retrace the steps through her past, reimagining her future.
New horrors unfold as the duo discover that the mountains AJ loved as a child are being desecrated via mountaintop removal mining, and their subsequent pollution is being filtered into the drinking water and school system that her special needs son now attends.
Like a renegade angel, A.J. prepares to bring down the people responsible for the environmental toxins poisoning her hometown. As hidden truths crawl their way to the surface, everything AJ knew becomes tested. She must face those who betrayed her and come to terms with the past she left behind, before it claims her future.
Brockovich has created a compassionate, endearing fire-cracker of a heroine in Rock Bottom. To elevate this massively engaging novel, the story climbs the edge of intensity with unwavering precision. Concise language, mastery of dialogue and a surprisingly authentic love story emerge as the reader becomes entranced in the pages of this killer debut.
