What readers are saying…

“I loved it! The suspense was tight, the medical stuff was gripping without being too graphic for my poor little brain/tummy, and the romance was terrific.” ~Merry, at Annie’s BookStop

For a debut author, CJ has given her readers the ultimate thrill. A medical mystery that puts the readers right into the middle of the action. It’s E/R and CSI all rolled up into one. ~Abe Knaster

“It is rare to find a book that grabs you right from the start and makes you really care what happens to the characters. Lifelines truly takes into a hospital, inside the lives and personas that everyone wears makes you afraid of what will happen next.” ~Deborah Oller

This is a book that I just could not put down. A great medical thriller, mystery, suspense, and action? What’s not to like? A great read and I’m highly looking forward to reading future works of CJ Lyons.  ~ Maureen Aspell

Love your books, can’t wait for Warning Signs, you are an inspiration for anyone wanting to write. ~ Lisa Davis

Lifelines was excellent. A relative new writer who should go far. I liked it because I like shows like scrubs and other hospital related titles. It’s better then those shows however its very action packed and even has some mystery. I would highly recommend reading this! ~Amber Lynch

I actually read Lifelines  in  July right after I had my daughter (I know, I know…should have been sleeping when the baby slept, but MAN I was hooked, and I was too hooked not to finish it ASAP!!!)–My husband went to the paperback exchange and picked out something he thought I would like to read during my stay. I had never heard of you before then, but when I read it, I was hooked, and you gained another fan for sure!!!  Bravo for a debut!!  ~Brenda Hess

A great book with mystery, love, and excitement! ~Kim Miller

CJ Lyons is the best medical thriller writer I’ve found. As good as Tess Gerritsen or Michael Palmer. ~Jessica Johnson

One day while browsing in the local bookstore, I stumbled across a very interesting book cover with the characters on the cover dressed in scrubs. As a registered nurse and avid reader, I was immediately drawn to the book and quickly read the back cover. I couldn’t wait to get the book home!!! I started the book when I got home and could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat all evening! I went to work the next day and told everyone about Lifelines. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Warning Signs in January. Thanks CJ for writing such an exciting and fast paced medical thriller!!! ~Crystal R. Grate, RN, BS

I read a lot of books and happened upon your novel, Lifelines. I really enjoyed the book – it was very well written, which is in contrast to a number of previous books I’ve read that were authored by doctors. Not only was the book well written, it also didn’t dumb down the reader. I’ve read medically-related novels where the physician author felt the need to impress the reader with medical jargon. A reader can tell when it’s put in for that purpose, and if they’re a big reader, they probably knew something about the subject anyway! ~Cindy Gooch

A fast-paced and very exciting read, and I loved the shorter chapters. The characters are people I can relate to and will look forward to following in future books. I highly recommend LIFELINES and can’t wait for WARNING SIGNS. ~ Darlene Palenik

The characters were so believable. It is one of the best medical novels I have ever read. I really didn’t want the book to end. I’m looking forward to reading Warning Signs. ~Estella Kissell

I cut my teeth on medical thrillers with Robin Cook and have been gobbling up most everything that comes out in the genre. What I love, love, love about LIFELINES is not just that the medical information is authentic and that the story is incredibly fast-paced with plenty of twists and turns, but that the four women in your story seem real, like I could meet them in the hospital in my city. That is what makes the thriller thrilling, while leaving me scared and hanging on till the end. ~Keira Soleore

I purchased Lifelines very shortly after it had been published. I was really surprised that it was a first book. It was excellent! I am an RN and love medical suspense. The problem I usually have is that the setting or scenes are not realistic which can cause me to stop reading. Lifelines was excellent, good suspense, obviously written by someone who knew about what happens in healthcare with just enough fiction. I would recommend this book to anyone! ~Marlene Perry

I was given Lifelines by a fellow nurse to read and it was highly recommended. I loved it and can hardly wait for CJLyons next book to be published. I am an avid reader of suspense novels and I really gravitate to the medical suspense novels (probably because I’ve been a nurse for 30 yrs). I would recommend this book to anyone who reads any novels. It’s intriguing and I felt like the characters were people I would know in real life. Keep up the great writing. I look forward to your next novel and anymore after that. ~Marsha Cannon

Lifelines was a page turner from start to finish! Great story, detail and suspense. I can’t wait for the next book! ~Linda Ocampo

Lifelines is more than your run of the mill medical thriller. It is a gripping story that compels you forward until the last page is turned. Ms. Lyons has obvious knowledge of her subject matter and a natural storytelling ability that makes for a thoroughly captivating book. ~Zara Heflin

One of the most thrilling and enjoyable books I have read in a long time. ~Natalie Krall

Lifelines is a great medical suspense novel. Realistic character portrayal and riveting reading make this a unique and special story. ~Sharon Berger

I can’t wait to read Warning Signs!! I couldn’t put Lifelines down and just kept reading til the end. When I was finished, I was sorry it couldn’t go on. It was a fabulous book!! ~Brenda Foreman

have been an ER nurse for many years and I just love reading medical thrillers. This is my favorite so far! I loved this book as it has a little bit of everything! Never a dull moment. I cannot wait for Warning Signs! ~Linda Trotier

C.J. Lyon’s debut novel Lifelines was pure enjoyment to read, from beginning to end, I read it in less than two days, wonderful plot and great secondary characters, a must for anyone who loves a well told story! ~Chad, BookCoveReviews.Com

First book by this new author and OMG. The suspense and intrigue were killing me. It was an excellent book, and I look forward to her next one. Smart….and I really liked how I read it after visiting Pittsburgh, which is where this story takes place. Neat. I look forward with anticipation for her next novel. ~Debby Mundy

I loved LIFELINES! It was an entertaining book, with a fast pace and authentic hospital setting. I can’t wait to read more about Lydia, Amanda, Gina, and Nora in WARNING SIGNS. I’m so glad to see a great, entertaining medical thriller – and series! – with female characters. ~Laura Gorton

I love thrillers, and I love medical dramas, and C. J. Lyon’s books are the best of both worlds! ~Vicky Hale

Just finished Rock Bottom. A great read on several levels. Looking forward to the other books in the series. Hurry them along.

(A small nit to pick…..In case no one has pointed this out to you as yet, you have reversed the positions of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man on the evolutionary scale. Present day humans are actually Cro-Magnons and the archtypical “cave men” David was alluding to were the Neanderthals. You might want to correct that in the second and subsequent printings of Rock Bottom).

Tim, thanks so much! I take full responsibility for the error–I looked them up to get the order right but still transposed them during copy-edits! I appreciate you pointing it out–I’ll pass it on to our editor.

      Thanks for stopping by!

I have been reading Warning Signs for a few weeks now and I am almost through it. I only have 10 more chapters to go. I never want to put it down and when I do I can’t wait to pick it back up to see what is going to happen. I just love all the characters, and I love the romance part of the storyline. Also like the medical part too. I want all the characters to get what they want. I guess I’ll see when I’m finished. I can’t wait to see what the next book will be about and read it.

Lifelines is awesome!!! I see that Im not the only reader that couldnt put it down…I finished it in one night! Im not in the medical field myself, but I could tell the story was very realistic without being too technical. I cannot believe this is a first book, such a talented writer….hopefully there are going to be a lot more!

  9. Annette Beason says:
